ABOUT

Model United Nations (MUN) is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about current events, topics in international relations, diplomacy and the United Nations

agenda.

The participants role-play as diplomats

representing a country in a simulated session of a

committee of the United Nations, such as the

Security Council or the General Assembly.

Participants research a country, take on roles as

diplomats, investigate international issues, debate,

deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to

world problems.

Apart from delegates, MUNs also offer the role of a

journalist or a photographer as a member of the International Press. As a journalist, participants get a chance to interview fellow delegates and report about the session.

As a whole, an MUN is one of the best opportunities for people interested in public speaking, journalism, international affairs, decision making and photography.

With the number of Model United Nations on the rise across Bhubaneswar in the last couple of years,it was a common complaint among the city's MUN enthusiasts that the city's and perhaps the region's biggest University did not have a MUN to call it's own!

All that though,is history now.KIIT University proudly presents the inaugaural edition of KIIT Model United Nations to be held on the 8th,9th & 10th of November,2013.

In today's world it is important for the youth to be aware of global issues and also be a force to reckon with when it comes to shaping up world policies. MUNs are thus a very important tool in shaping tomorrow's leaders.

With that we invite you t the temple city of Bhubaneswar and to our University, and hope that the Executive Board,Delegates and members of the International Press have a great time during KIIT MUN'13,and we get to see productive sessions of MUNning! As our tagline goes, "When Diplomacy Ends,War Begins!"
